Back Ground and current usage:
PYROSIL® was developed in the 1980’s and its first commercial application was used to increase bonding between porcelain and metal used in dental work. Today, Pyrosil is used for a multitude of surface preparations including:
Glass and Plastic Bottles/Containers
Pyrosil is being used by major glass and plastic manufacturers and container decorators to increase bonding and durability of UV inks on glass and other substrates.
Flat Glass
Pyrosil is used to increase bonding of inks and paints to glass to keep glass cleaner and for decorative purposes. It is also used to increase bonding and durability of clear coatings on glass windows, showers and solar panels. Often the coatings are referred to as easy clean or low maintenance glass.
Automotive
Jaguar and BWM require authorized repair facilities to use Pyrosil to promote greater bonding of adhesives used on aluminum bodied automobiles. It is commonly used as pre-treatment process for Mercedes, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Audi and other luxury automobiles that have aluminum frames.
